Garrett is a coach and performance director at Arizona Pole Vault Academy. He began his vaulting journey at AZPVA under the guidance of Dean Starkey, becoming a two-time Arizona state champion with a high school best of 17’0”.

Garrett went on to compete at the NCAA Division I level at Stanford University and Arizona State University, where he earned a master’s degree in Exercise Science. After college, Garrett continued competing at the elite level, placing 9th at the USA National Championships and achieving a personal best of 18’5”.

Garrett has coached full-time at AZPVA since 2017, working with athletes ranging from first-time vaulters to world-class competitors. During his time at AZPVA, he has coached numerous state champions and helped develop many athletes who have gone on to compete at the collegiate level. His coaching emphasizes mastery of the fundamentals, proper progressions, and an individualized approach to each athlete. Garrett also has an extensive background in speed, strength, and conditioning program development.

Garrett currently serves as a pole vault coach at Arizona State University.

AZPVA clinics and memberships are independent of ASU Athletics. Participation in an AZPVA clinic is not an ASU tryout, recruiting visit, or pathway onto the ASU team. Questions regarding AZPVA training should be directed to AZPVA staff at (480) 766-6017.
